Dark Order is a Japanese Pokémon TCG expansion from the Sun & Moon era. Released in Japan in 2018 with the set code SM8a, the expansion has a strong focus on Darkness and Metal-type Pokémon. The set combines regular Pokémon with Pokémon-GX and Trainer cards, creating a darker visual identity that distinguishes Dark Order from many other Japanese expansions released during the Sun & Moon period.
The Dark Order card list features Pokémon such as Incineroar-GX, Hoopa-GX and Cobalion-GX alongside a variety of regular Pokémon from different generations. Pokémon including Absol, Mightyena, Bisharp and other species associated with darker or metallic themes contribute to the overall character of the expansion. Trainer cards provide additional variety throughout the main numbered collection.
Pokémon-GX are an important part of Dark Order and represent some of the most powerful cards found throughout the expansion. These cards feature larger illustrations and GX attacks that distinguish them from regular Pokémon. The combination of Darkness, Metal and other Pokémon types gives the set a varied card list while maintaining the darker theme suggested by the Dark Order name.
Collectors can find several rarity levels throughout the Japanese Dark Order card list. Alongside regular Pokémon and Pokémon-GX, the expansion contains Super Rare, Hyper Rare and additional Secret Rare cards. Full Art Pokémon-GX, Full Art Trainers and higher-rarity versions extend the collection beyond the standard numbered cards and provide alternative designs for several important cards.
All Dark Order cards on this collection page belong to the original Japanese SM8a expansion and feature Japanese-language card text. As a special expansion from the Sun & Moon era, Dark Order represents the period before the introduction of TAG TEAM Pokémon-GX, when individual Pokémon-GX remained one of the defining mechanics of the Pokémon Trading Card Game.
