Sun Collection is a Japanese Pokémon TCG expansion from the Sun & Moon era. Released in Japan in 2016 with the set code SM1S, the expansion was one of the first sets of the Japanese Sun & Moon series. Solgaleo plays a central role within the collection, creating a direct connection with Pokémon Sun and the introduction of the Alola region to the Pokémon Trading Card Game.
The Sun Collection card list features Pokémon such as Solgaleo-GX, Lapras-GX, Decidueye-GX and Gumshoos-GX alongside regular Pokémon and Evolution lines from Alola and earlier generations. Newly introduced Pokémon appear together with familiar species, giving the expansion a varied checklist that represents the beginning of the seventh generation within the Pokémon TCG.
Pokémon-GX are one of the defining characteristics of Sun Collection. As one of the earliest Japanese expansions of the era, the set helped introduce this new card mechanic, including powerful GX attacks that could normally be used only once during a game. Solgaleo-GX is particularly important to the identity of the collection, while other Pokémon-GX provide different types and gameplay characteristics throughout the set.
Collectors can find several rarity levels throughout the Japanese Sun Collection card list. Alongside regular Pokémon and Pokémon-GX, the expansion includes Super Rare, Hyper Rare and additional Secret Rare cards. Full Art Pokémon-GX, Full Art Trainers and higher-rarity cards extend the collection beyond the regular numbered checklist and provide alternative versions of selected Pokémon and Trainers.
All Sun Collection cards on this collection page belong to the original Japanese SM1S expansion and feature Japanese-language card text. Sun Collection was released alongside Moon Collection, with the two expansions marking the beginning of the Sun & Moon era in the Japanese Pokémon TCG. Sun Collection places Solgaleo prominently within its card list, while Moon Collection is centered around Lunala.
