Sword is a Japanese Pokémon TCG expansion that helped launch the Sword & Shield era. Released in Japan in 2019 with the set code S1W, the expansion introduced Pokémon from the Galar region alongside the new Pokémon V mechanic. Zacian plays a central role within the set, creating a direct connection with Pokémon Sword and the beginning of a new generation of the Pokémon Trading Card Game.
The Sword card list features Pokémon such as Zacian V, Lapras V, Lapras VMAX, Snorlax V, Snorlax VMAX and other Pokémon from Galar and previous regions. These cards appear alongside regular Pokémon, Evolution lines and Trainer cards, creating a varied collection that represents the early stages of the Japanese Sword & Shield series.
Pokémon V and Pokémon VMAX are among the defining characteristics of the Sword expansion. Pokémon V introduced a new generation of powerful cards, while Pokémon VMAX represented the enormous Dynamax and Gigantamax forms associated with the Sword & Shield games. Snorlax and Lapras are among the Pokémon represented through these larger VMAX cards within the set.
Collectors can find several rarity levels throughout the Japanese Sword card list. Alongside regular Pokémon, Pokémon V and Pokémon VMAX, the expansion contains Super Rare, Hyper Rare and additional Secret Rare cards. Full Art Pokémon, Trainer cards and other higher-rarity versions extend the collection beyond the standard numbered checklist and provide alternative artwork for several cards.
All Sword cards on this collection page belong to the original Japanese S1W expansion and feature Japanese-language card text. Sword was released alongside Shield, with the two sets jointly introducing the Sword & Shield generation to the Japanese Pokémon TCG. Sword places Zacian prominently within its collection, while Shield focuses on its Legendary counterpart, Zamazenta.
