VMAX Rising is a Japanese Pokémon TCG expansion from the Sword & Shield era. Released in Japan in 2020 with the set code S1a, the expansion was one of the earliest Japanese sets to develop the Pokémon V and Pokémon VMAX mechanics introduced at the beginning of the Sword & Shield series. The set combines Pokémon from the Galar region with familiar Pokémon from previous generations.
The VMAX Rising card list features Pokémon such as Rillaboom V, Rillaboom VMAX, Cinderace V, Cinderace VMAX, Inteleon V and Inteleon VMAX. The final Evolutions of the three Galar starter Pokémon therefore play an important role throughout the expansion. Additional Pokémon V, regular Pokémon, Evolution lines and Trainer cards provide further variety across the complete set.
Pokémon VMAX are one of the defining characteristics of VMAX Rising. These cards represent the enormous Dynamax and Gigantamax forms introduced during the Sword & Shield era and evolve from their corresponding Pokémon V. The three Galar starter Evolutions are particularly recognizable within the set, with their V and VMAX cards highlighting the new Pokémon and mechanics associated with this generation.
Collectors can find several rarity levels throughout the Japanese VMAX Rising card list. Alongside regular Pokémon, Pokémon V and Pokémon VMAX, the expansion contains Super Rare, Hyper Rare and additional Secret Rare cards. Full Art Pokémon and Trainer cards provide alternative designs beyond the standard versions and extend the collection past the regular numbered checklist.
All VMAX Rising cards on this collection page belong to the original Japanese S1a expansion and feature Japanese-language card text. As one of the first Japanese subsets of the Sword & Shield era, VMAX Rising represents the early development of Pokémon V and VMAX while placing a strong emphasis on Rillaboom, Cinderace and Inteleon as the fully evolved Galar starter Pokémon.
